Weird Science:
PLOT: A pair of nerdy high-schoolers, outcasts to everyone, take to
their computer and magically bring to life a stunningly beautiful woman
whose devotion to them--and not to mention her special powers -- make
them the most desired kids on the block.
There are many stereotypes in this film: Geeks, Jocks, Popular girls, a person who get's bullied etc.
Weird science is a typical teenage film, it contains the main conventions of any teenage film, such as the settings. It's set in a boy's bedroom, school, and a house where a party occurs.
The geeks: Straight from the beginning of the clip, it was really easy to pick out stereotypes within characters, for example Geeks. There two main character's are shown to be geeks, who are considered as an outsider in a teen movie, as they are being bullied by other members of the public. They don't have a social life and dream about what it's like to be a popular rebellious teenager.
The Jocks: These two teens are very arrogant, ignorant and portray a rebellions character of a teen. They fight for girls, in order to get the prettiest so they can be seen as players as well. They bully the geeks, as it's shown in that way in this move- considerably most other teenage movies as well.
The popular girl: She's the prettiest of the cast, her role is to attract all males, especially by her looks. She has the ability to attract any guys attention, and does that well. She befriends the geeks, this then helps the geeks to become more popular. So in a way, she promotes the outcasts in the social group.
The mean Brother: In most teenage films, we'll find that there are a lot of sibling rivalry. There's always tension between family members, such as an older brother. This guys, is a brother of one of the geeks, he's from the army- guessing from his clothing. He 'rules' his brother, and the house, as he has the authority to do what he likes. His role is to make his younger brother suffer, or just use him, bully him etc.
