Email from Dan/Beginning scene of the old opening:

This is an email from our teacher Dan giving us feedback after watching our teen opening.
Dan has suggested us to do something similar to this for the opening prayer scene as it uses a variety of shots and lots of close ups.

This is the beginning scene of our opening, we have re-done it due to the feedback from Dan, this lacks close up's and we have used similar camera angles throughout.

This will be added on Monday 17th March when we get back to school as currently we do not have access to the footage.

For the new improved opening we hope to use more close ups and also make more aware to the audience what we are doing as Dan said he did not quite understand the prayer scene or the fact it was two different characters at the same time.

cropping:

Review from the third day of filming-

Purpose of split screen:

Character Development:

Elaborated process of cropping:

Original screen shot-
You click on the clip, press image.
This post is what I've learnt about cropping. We searched how to crop on Final Cut Pron on YouTube and pasted the video on our group post. Here, I'm going to explain how to crop.

Press image plus wire frame and turn it on.

You grab the corner of the clip.

You then move the courser along.

Finally you then move it, so you can scale it to whatever size you want.

Elaborated explanation of how to change contrast and brightnesss:

From today's session I learnt how to change the brightness/ contrast on Final Cut Pro. As a group we searched it up on YouTube, the clip is on another post, but I'm going to explain how it's done.
Firstly, you double click on the footage until
you see it on the viewer.
You then hover your courser to the apple
icon, and above Effect:

You then go to video filter-

After that you move your mouse along to
colour correction:

Then you move along to colour
correction three way-

The you get these colour palettes.
You press the ink pen and check the colour.
You increase the contrast by moving the arrow.

Film loacations!

Shots to re-film:

We're going to have to re film some shots due to the quality of the footage. Some of the shots are very dark, which doesn't distinguish the main two characters well. We're also going to add a few more things, like objects and imagery that will help distinguish and separate the character and home environment.

Editing day part 2-

26th Feb was our second session which was 3 hours long- where we started to edit again. We started from the very begining of the film, which includes praing shots (in the bedroom) gettig ready for college, walking down the stairs and finally leaving thhouse.
here are some shots of our editing for our film.

Tips for editing- (Adjusting brightness/Cropping)

Adjusting Brightness
There's many parts of our footage that is very dark, so this makes it harder to see. We, once again checked up on YouTube and researched how to put the contrast up and the brightness as well as colour correcting/ adding effects.

Cropping
During the editing process, we had some footage which didn't have a good frame, so we decided to to look up how to edit- crop files on Final Cut pro.

this clip from youtube explains how to crop, to get a much better frame.

A quick chat with the characters

This will be added on Monday 17th when we get back to school as currently we do not have access to the footage.

Final Idea for teen opening

We have had to change the treatment for our teen opening as some of the characters did not turn up meaning we have had to adapt to the characters that did. This is hopefully the last time we will be changing it. A new storyboard will be updated in a few days.

Locations: Fatma's house/Tahmina's house, alley way, outside of college, bus-stop

New treatment:

Refelctive blog 2#

We just finished filimg- well we may have to re do some filming and honestly, it has been very stressful. We spend most of the time re-doing the same scenes over and over due to the fact people in our group don't like the filming frame. Weather has been a let down during filming, but we didn't stoip, not for a second. We filmed nearly every day from morning to evening. Even though it has been stressful, we have got good quality footage, which we're going to use. Other than the filming, I think i've done pretty well blogging wise, I have listend to Dan's advise and now know what types- different blogs that I should be doing.

Font title Ideas-

I went on this website called Dafont, they have amazing fonts for anything really. I searched up Arabic writing considering that our film is based on culture and religion. And here are the results:

Day 1 - Part 1 & 2 of Filming

Part 1 of Filming

Unfortunately we started a bit late as some of our characters did not arrive on time, this meant we had to speed up as we wanted to finish all the scenes which consisted of the home area.

For the first half of the filming we did the bedroom and kitchen scene where we took shots from different angles and distances. We didn't really follow the storyboard which meant we had to redo the scene again as when watching the scenes back we noticed we broke a few rules such as the 180 degree rule.

Part 2 of Filming

We managed to finish the filming for the home area so we decided to film the alley way scene, however  the lighting changed as we were outside for quite some time which made our shots look as if they were filmed on different days rather than time we wanted our film opening to be (morning before school) also the quality was not that great as the lighting was dark due to the time we were filming. This now means we have to re-shot the alley way scenes which has cost us a lot of time.

Behind the Scene Pictures Day 1

A big thank you to everyone who attended the first day of filming for our teen opening!
