Q7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
The clip above is my preliminary task. You can clearly see the difference between the prelim and our final outcome. The mise en scene- doesn't reflect the characters at all, the costumes were all wrong and we didn't use enough props. The prelim is pretty rough, there is only a small use of camera movements and angels. The quality of the footage was rough, and wasn't that clear, and the shots were messed up and didn't fit the forthcoming shot. We didn't use a story board, so this could be a reason why the shots didn't match each other.
Looking back at the prelim made me realise there's a lot of things you need to make a well professional film. When we came to editing, we didn't know how to use the programme (Final Cut Pro) well, we did but I guess mostly everyone forgot.
This is our final opening sequence and by looking at you can see that our group and myself indivudually progressed. The shots that were used were a mixture of different shots and they had better quality. A lot of planning and reasearching went into making this opening sequence; from making three storyboards to researching different films with simlar topics such as ours. The mise en scene worked really well- this is because our film is about religion so we tried to show religion through costumes (head scarfs, religous dresses etc) and also through props (Qu'ran, praying mat) Lighting was adjusted a lot during filming, we tried to get as much light as possible. When we started to edit, we played around with a lot of things- from changing speed to changing the way it looks e.g. adding filters, uping the contrast and adding effects. We played aorund with the fonts of the titles and added music- which was played throughout our sequence.
We came a very long way from the prelim to our final outcome.
